The basis of the legal relationship between a landlord and tenant is grounded in both contract and property law and all the essential elements of a tenancy are set out in the Landlord and Tenant Act of Guyana Cap 61:01.
Our firm handles various aspects of Landlord and tenant including possession and non-payment of rent. The landlord can bring a proceeding for possession to evict a tenant for reasons other than a non-payment of rent for instance if the tenant breached a material obligation of the tenancy. The tenant can also bring an action against their landlord for various reasons, including breaching their right to exclusive possession/ exclusive right to enjoy the property. We can also prepare and review tenancy contracts to protect our client. Come in and let’s have a talk.
